Modest Is Hottest (Part 1)
If you couldn't tell by the whole "(Part 1)" thing, I've decided to turn this into a bit of a series. I was only going to give this one blog post, but after further investigation have decided to share a couple of different things on this topic. So, with that being said, I hope you enjoy my series "Modest Is Hottest."

For this weeks look at our topic I've decided to view the different types of modesty. You may not know this, but there are different kinds. It's not just about how much someone covers up their skin or may not wear makeup, there is so much more. So, lets take a look.
Definition #1- The quality or state of being unassuming or moderate in the estimation of one's abilities
To me, this definition talks mostly about my view of myself and your view of yourself. A lot of the time we think very highly of ourselves, putting us up on a pedestal and becoming our own god. We find little ways to compare ourselves against the world and then boast about it. "Her singing is alright, but she missed that note a little. I'm sure I would've hit it." "His hair doesn't look that good. I'm glad I know how to style mine." "I wouldn't have missed that catch!" Both guys and girls could go on and on and on about someone else faults in order to build themselves up. I know I'm guilty of it. Are you?
Definition #2- The quality of being relatively moderate, limited, or small in amount, rate, or level
To me, this definition is a little like the first. Only a little though. Whereas the first talks about being modest in a way that does not lift ones self above the rest this definition talks about not only staying away from lifting yourself up but also about humbling yourself. Bringing yourself down to a level of understanding of others and sticking to the "I'm Third" rules. God first, others second, me third.
Definition #3- Behavior, manner, or appearance intended to avoid impropriety or indecency
To me, this definition points out what most think of when they think of being modest. Dressing appropriately and not showing too much skin. This talks about not using the way we act or our appearance to bring attention to ourselves. To not only just dress the part, but to act the part too.
____________________________________________________________________
So, now that we've looked at the different types of modesty, lets take next time to look at what the Bible says about modestly and how we as both women and men can conduct ourselves in life. Thanks for joining me in this journey to modesty!!
((Disclaimer: As you have noticed I've picked quite a topic and you may or may not share some opinions said on this blog. That is perfectly fine and you are not forced to read this. However, I thought I would share my views on modesty and later on will share how it has played out in my life. I don't wish to cause any arguments, I am simply just sharing my heart. Thanks for understanding!))
