6 Things I Need To Tell My Mom

Growing up we have ups and downs, good days, bad days, horrible days, amazing days. And through it all there is always one person (besides God and of course my dad) who has been there through it all. My mom. So here are 6 things I need to tell my mom.

1) You really are my best friend.
Throughout life I've had many girls I have called my "best friend." You've been there to help me when a friendship was hard or difficult. Laugh with me at the funny memories and cry with me through the sad ones. Early on in life I always saw you as someone who knew about my friendships but never someone who I could have a friendship with. BOY! Was I wrong or what? Throughout all of these "best friends" only a few have remained and one of those is you. I never realized how much you were truly my best friend until a few years ago. It escalated even more when I went to Haiti for my mission trip and felt the presence of your absence. I can never thank you enough for the love and care you continue to show me in this crazy life. Thank you for being my true leaping snow leopard best friend. Btw, I had to add this picture below this that no one else will get but you ;) just to prove we're best friends hahaha!

2) Thanks for putting up with me.
If anyone on this planet knows how big of a pain I am, it's definitely you. As your daughter it apparently has been my designated job to give you heck for a good portion of your life! There are days when you probably wanted to toss me into the lake, literally. You know my sassy qualities, my bad attitude, and my slight annoyance of other human beings (INTROVERT!!) Yet, even during our rough patches you continued to love me and guide me back to the real me. So thanks for putting up with my sass, there aren't a lot of people left who can do that.

3) I've always wanted to be your kind of beautiful.
Now, try not to cry. But, since I know you, I'll inform you to grab a tissue...or two.....or three. Little girls always admire their mothers. We may watch Disney movies, but when it's all said and done, the realest princess in our lives is our mother. The same goes for you. I may have over 90 Disney movies piled in my room, full of fairytales, pretty dresses, perfect bodies and hair, beautiful faces....but those are all cartoons. Secretly, I look to you to see a real princess. One of virtue, love, faith,  kindness, and beauty both inside and out. I loved walking into the bathroom when I was younger and just watching you get ready for the day, curling your hair, applying your classic ChapStick with the black casing and white lid and putting in your earrings. As a child, I always thought you were beautiful, and I still do to this day. Now, as a young adult, I see your beauty runs so much deeper than the outside. Jesus' light shines from deep inside you all the way to your outer layer. And since I've realized that, however many years ago that was, I've wanted to be your kind of beautiful. Both inside and out.

4) You're weird. I love you, but you're weird.
This is something I normally just say to the girls, but it fits perfectly for you too. Who else do you know randomly almost walks into a pole? Sings jingles to restaurants on command? Or how about requests to have her children take funny pictures with statues? I love your weirdness, it makes everything more fun! Especially for my snapchat viewers ;)

5) I never could be me without you.
You know more about me than I even know about myself. Through life you've always helped me find the true me, even when it was really hard and I probably didn't listen at first. Thanks to you I've become comfortable with who I am and what I look like and how I act and how I react. You've helped me embrace my self as the creation God made me to be. So thank you for walking beside me and holding my hand through my life journey.

6) I love you...bunches and bunches!
I don't know how old I was, but you introduced me to the numbers 143. Overtime I would lean over during church and write those numbers to you and you would always respond "1432." And then we increased it. We changed the numbers. 1437! No one on earth will ever be able to put into words how much seeing just those four letters gives me a sense of love. Your love for me is so strong and shines through everything you do and I love you just as much, maybe even more ;) I love you mom, I love everything about you. You really are the world's greatest mom, people can fight with me about it all the want but you're a supermom and all four of us girls would agree on that. So mom, I need to tell you....143737373737373737!

So here's to you mom. Thank you for everything. I don't know what I would do without you!
Love,
Your #1
